It's Halloween time again! For my 2019 costume I once again went as the Joker, but this time it was the version from the new Joaquin Phoenix Joker movie. I decided I was going to do this version a month or two before I saw the movie and really hoped I would love it once it came out. I saw it on opening night and was blown away. It's such a dark, almost sad take on the clown prince of crime, but I really enjoyed it. I walked out of the theater already planning the costume.
The addition of the blue eye lines and the red nose is a departure from the traditional Joker look and early on I didn't care for it, but it's definitely grown on me and makes this Joker unique. I grew my hair out for quite a while preparing to dye it green.
This costume was really quite easy to put together. I had a hand-me-down suit from the '70s that was originally gray. We dyed the suit using standard garment dye and painted some inexpensive black shoes with some brown paint. My mom made the vest using some yellow material. This might have been one of my least expensive costumes to date.
Ryan went to the Halloween party with me and didn't have a costume planned. My first thought was to dress him up like a huge lady and I could find him a wig. I said I knew there was a wig with my Hollywood Hulk Hogan costume and they said why doesn't he just dress up in my Hollywood Hogan costume. What a great idea. Even though he's several inches taller then me, the whole costume fit him perfectly.
Ryan's pythons are almost 24 inches! He looks too sweet!
Ryan definitely makes a better Hollywood Hogan then he would a woman.
That's a pair that could beat a straight!
The best part of the Joker movie had to be the dancing. I tried to recreate it the entire time I was in costume.

We went to a bar in Uniontown, PA. I love seeing all the great costumes. This is my friend Nicole. She had great make-up for her knife throwing costume.
Hollywood met Red and Yellow Hulkster early on in the evening. I think ours is a little bit better, Brother!
This was one of my favorite costumes of the night. She had amazing make-up that made it look like her skin was flapping off. It was really well done.
Ryan loved this White Ranger costume. The Ranger made his own costume and it looked professional. He said the armor was made of old wrestling mats. Really cool.
Scary clowns are all the rage. I loved both "It" movies. This a very nice interpretation of Pennywise and Georgie.

There were two other Jokers out. One was a Heath Ledger version, and one was a Jared Leto. Neither were good enough to show off, and nowhere near as good as my previous Joker costumes. I did sneak a pic with Jared's Harley while he was away. It was a good joke.
We all love Stranger Things, and the Scoops Ahoy costumes were very popular this year, right Jeff?
I usually don't love straight up store bought costumes, but this Leg Lamp and Deranged Easter Bunny from "Christmas Story" was a lot of fun.

The bar's Halloween party was sideshow themed. They had a sideshow performer named Lolly Gagger! She swallowed swords and ate fire. It was a lot of fun.
She asked for a volunteer and I raised my Joker hand. I pulled the sword out of her throat as it was weird as heck. I got a few more pictures of the fire show below.
I think the Joker would make a great nWo Champion! But not as good as Hollywood Hogan!

There wasn't a Batman for me to villianize, so Spidey was the next best thing.

No too often do I feel short, but being beside Media and Ryan Hulk did the trick. You can't really tell in this picture, but these two dudes are huge.

This was without question one of the best costumes of the night. I don't know how it worked, I don't know where her head was, but it was a great costume.
This was for sure a scary costume. It kind of reminded me of "The Rake" that was the basis of my White Walker costume from a few years ago.
Lolly Gagger put on a heck of a show. She wasn't just fooling around, she had her performance down. This was a great, unexpected, addition to the Halloween celebration.
I wonder what would Happen if the Joker was bitten by a zombie. DC should really explore that.
Excellent make-up by these two. I had a really good time celebrating at Marilyn's On Main in Uniontown. Unfortunately, I didn't see any Dukes of Hazzard themed costumes this year. Not even a Jessica-Daisy Duke.

As I mentioned before, the best scene in the movie is when Arthur Fleck totally transforms into the Joker and dances his way down the city steps in Gotham City. Since I don't live anywhere near Brooklyn where the scene was filmed, I had to improvise. I used the steps leading to Church Street from the Historic Church of St. Peter here in Brownsville. I danced a lot.
A lot, a lot.

Another great Halloween. This costume has to be one of my best. It's funny when I talk about the past costumes with people. Some people love Mrs. Doubtfire, while others love the Terminator. I think the White Walker, He-Man, and Lion-O were some of the best. Some of my friends and family even say my Capt. Jack Sparrow was my best. I recently took this picture from my senior yearbook that showed off three award winning costumes from high school.
