Driftlee's General Lee Pedal Car

Friend of the site Driftlee, aka Sam Mc, from the Dayton, OH area, has recently competed his General Lee restoration.  If this were another Dukes of Hazzard website, we might be talking about torsion bars, engine manifolds, and roll cages.  But not here on DukesCollector.  Driftlee's restoration was of an original Dukes of Hazzard Pedal Car.

When he first bought the car, it didn't look nearly as good as the above picture.  Like most restorations of '69 Chargers, he rescued a previously loved car and knew the job wouldn't be easy.

Most of the original decals were torn off, and the steering module was incorrectly installed.

Sam striped it down, cleaned it up, and fixed the steering.  He then contacted CrazyC, resident General Lee decal maker, and together they went to work recreating all the stickers and decals.  Hours and hours of measuring, searching, and more measuring went into the completed pieces.  After seeing the finished product, one might think that they had an original sticker sheet to copy, but that was not the case at all.

I can't imagine a brand new pedal car sitting under the tree on Christmas morning in 1982 looking any better than this.  Another fan might have tried to make the decals look more like the actual General rather than the original pedal car, but I think Sam did the right thing recreating the look of car as if it were new out of the box.  Great job Driftlee! You are truly a professional at General Lee pedal car restoration.

Dukes of Hazzard T-Shirts

Whats the best way to show the world that you are a Dukes of Hazzard fanatic?  Well, now that I think about it, by driving a General Lee.  I'm not quite there yet.  What's the next best way?  Wear a Dukes T-Shirt.  Or lots of Dukes T-Shirts.  Lots and lots.  I happen to be a Dukes of Hazzard fanatic and wear lots and lots of Dukes T-Shirts.  I thought I would share some.

This is a great classic logo shirt.  It has the printed tag that says Dukes.  I love printed tags. I got this one from my friends at 80stees.com.  It's funny, I think they went into business in early summer 2000, and I bought my first Dukes shirt from them in July of that year.  I buy from them all the time.

This shirt comes from target and is still available in the store.  It has the movie logo.  This image is also the background image of my phone.  I am pretty sure it's my fourth phone that I've used this image.  Love my Motorolas.

This one also comes from 80stees.com.  It is a newer one to their site.

This is an older shirt from the original Cooter's Place in Sperryville, VA.  There are at least five of these floating around my house.

I have several Boars Nest shirts.  This was is from the movie.  I got it on eBay.  It is red.  The one Jessica Simpson wears in the movie is pink.  Natalie has that one.

This one is also styled after the logo from the movie.  It has the movie logo printed tag.  I really like this one.  It came from 80stees.com as well.

This is by far my favorite Boars Nest shirt.  It is a similar logo as the one on the building from the show.  I like these shirts because, if people notice them, they know Dukes, and therefore are good people.   It also appears that I have been to Hazzard, patronized the local hang out, and bought a t-shirt while I was there.  I got this one from 80stees.com a while ago and pretty much wore it out.  They no longer have it available, but I need to find another before this one falls apart.

I mentioned this shirt in a recent post.  I got it from eBay, but it is available at Kohl's department store.  It is only $8.99 which makes it the least expensive of any of these shirts.  Pick one up today.

I got this shirt for working the Hazzard Homecoming in August of 2011.  I worked Ben "Cooter" Jones' booth with Jeff.  If I hadn't worked the event, I probably would have tried to buy one of these shirts.

This is another from 80stees.com. I told you I buy a lot from them.  They have much more than Dukes too.  You really should check them out.

This is a great hoodie from Cooter's Place.  I think I wore this thing about once a week this last winter.

This is technically a not Dukes shirt.  It is the same shirt Seann William Scott wore as Bo in the movie.  After I was on set of the movie, and saw him in it, I wore this shirt regularly for about a year.  It works as a Dukes shirt and  shows that I think Led Zeppelin rocks.

This is my go-to Dukes shirt.  It is incredible soft and  a unique grey/brown color.  The only way to originally get this shirt was with a prize pack given out to promote the movie.  Sites like Joblo.com and IGN each received one and held a contest for readers.  I didn't win one, but went to eBay for it.  And then went back to eBay.  And back again.  I think I have at least five of this same shirt.  I love it that much.

And finally we have my all time favorite Dukes shirt.  This one pictured is actually a back up because the original is a little torn and faded.  I got the original in 1999.  I took my high school senior picture in it.  The first time I met each cast member, I wore this shirt.  A few years ago, Profiles in History auctioned off the original artwork used to create this shirt.  I almost won it.  This same artwork is also on the cardback for the 1/144 Racing Champions diecast cars which I collected all 150. I really love this shirt.

I have a bunch of other Dukes shirts, but they are currently stored away in a bin.  One of these days I'll take them out and make a sequel to this post.

Dukes of Hazzard Race'N'Trap Game

In my last post, I mentioned that I was waiting for something exciting to arrive.  Here it is.  This is The Dukes of Hazzard Hazzard County Rough Rider Race'N'Trap Game by Jotastar.  That's a long title.  I have never seen one before.  I snatched this sucker up as soon as I saw it on eBay.  The seller had a buy-it-now price that I thought was reasonably low.  Man, was I excited.  I had to pay for shipping from the U.K. but it was worth it.

Jotastar seems to be a toy company based in the United Kingdom.  I can't find any recent toys they have created, but it seems they had quite are few popular licenses throughout the 60s, 70s, and 80s.  This Dukes game sure is unique.

It is very similar to a classic labyrinth game.  The ones where a marble or ball rolled around the wooden maze, and the player tries to avoid the holes in the board.  This game board has a plastic covering on it with guide rails and "traps" to avoid.  Again, it's great to see Flash getting some love of the game board.  Even 'ol Crazy Cooter made this one.

The game works by the player "steering" the General Lee around the Hazzard County.  The steering wheel is a great touch.

The bottom of the game is round so the board pivots any direction the player steers.

The General has very nice detail.  They did a good job creating it.  A lot of times with toys like this, you don't see the detail go into a piece that would not be able to be used in other toys.

Underneath the General is a little ball bearing.  It allows the car to "drive" through Hazzard.  It is a really cool take on a labyrinth game.  It took me six tries to make from start to finish without falling into a trap.  I am very happy with the condition of both the box and game.  All of the pieces are here and it isn't faded or damaged.  I am pretty sure this game was only available in the U.K.  It was made in 1982.  I love adding rare things like this to my collection.

More new Dukes suff 3/27/2012

I got a another batch of new Dukes things. Lets jump right in.

Presto Magix.  They seem to be like cheap Colorforms.  And unless you read the top, you really wouldn't notice they are Dukes.  Boss Hogg is on the front of one, and his Caddy is on another.  Very odd that the General or the Duke Boys are no where to be seen.  I got the complete set for a great price.  Not quite the 50¢ that they are marked for, but I can't complain.

I got this Dukes backpack from Dean in California.  He has had it since he was a kid, and he took great car of it.  I am very happy to add it to my collection.  I have the duffel bag, and now the backpack.

It seems I've added a lot of dinner ware to the collection lately.  I have several of each piece, but none still in the package.  Until now.  This is the mug and bowl still in the plastic.  It costs $1.29 originally.  Not in 2012.

I have been chasing these newer Halloween costumes since them came out a few years ago.  I saw them in a Target but didn't want to pay full price.  I figured they would be on sale after Halloween.  I never found them after.  I picked these up on eBay.  No one placed another bid.  Weird when that happens.  I just need to find Bo.

This sleeping bag also came from Dean.  It needs fluffed up a little, but its in nice shape.  I already have this one and the other version, but I couldn't pass up the price.  Two really great items from Dean.  Thanks Dean.

This is a new T-Shirt.  I bought it from eBay, but don't make the mistake I did.  It came with a price tag from Kohl's.  I looked online and Kohl's sells it for $8.99.  I paid a little more, but not as much as with shipping from Kohl's.  If you have a store close to you, go get one.  I really like the design, and the blue color.

I picked this little plastic badge up from eBay for nearly nothing.  I'll have to do a little research to see what it came with.  It's a cool little piece.

That's it for now.  I got a really exciting item coming in the mail soon.  I'll post all kinds of pics as soon as it comes in.

Larry's Dukes of Hazzard theme song

I got a couple of things in the mail this week, but I am expecting a few more.  I figured I would post them all together.  But I didn't want to leave you, my readers, without something Dukes to end your week.

Here is my version of Waylon Jennning's "Good Ol' Boys" entitled "Another Good Ol' Boy" Enjoy:

I put this video together in 2005 for a contest.  My collection is no longer set up like this.  Besides the opening shot in my room, the scenes come from a stop on the Dukes of Hazzard Reunion Tour 2000 in Hershey, PA, where I first met Bo, Luke, and Enos, the The original Cooter's Place, where I first met Cooter and Rosco, Cooter's Place Gatlinburg, where I met Cletus, and Dukesfest 2004, where I first met Daisy.  The first cake is from my twentieth birthday that Natalie made me, and the second cake is from my third birthday in 1984.  I am with my cousin Jaime, and my grandmother, Dolly Park.  Its funny that the General Lee I am jumping into at Cooter's Place in Sperryville is the same one that is jumped at the end of the video in Bristol at Dukesfest a few years later.   It was also at Dukesfest that I was flying around the Bristol Motor Speedway in a General going about 90 mph.  This video puts a smile on my face every time I watch it.

Another Dukes Of Hazzard Collector's Awesome Collection

One of the my main goals for this site and blog is to bring Dukes of Hazzard collectors together.  The most popular Dukes sites and forums focus mainly on General Lee ownership.  I wanted a spot where collectors could talk collecting.  So I am very happy to share another collector's collection.  And, man, is it a doosy.  New friend, Mark, form upstate New York, shared with me some of his coolest items.  He tells me he has hundreds of Dukes items and these are some of his best.  I would have to agree.  I don't have any of these bad boys in my collection (yet).  Let's take a look.

This is the Kid Size Raincoat.  Mark's looks to be in great condition.

Not only does Mark have the super-rare Daisy Power Cycle, he has it in the box.  Wow.  I think this one is more rare than the General Lee version because it was aimed at the female fans of the show.

Ah the pedal car.  An item that has been eluding me for a while.  I often wonder why they used the same mold for the General as they did for KITT.  And why they are both a GTO and neither a Charger nor Firebird.  Some questions may never get answered.  Mark's pedal car looks to be autographed by Enos, Cletus, Daisy, and Rosco.  Very Cool.  I have the KITT version of this car.  I'll have to snap some photos and get them on here.

This Fun Tunnel and bicycle are blowing my mind.  I don't think I have ever seen either on eBay.  They are truely amazing.  Again, Mark has the tunnel and the box.  Crazy.  I think my best bet for adding these kind of items to my collection is to find them at an antique store or something.  I am sure the prices would skyrocket on eBay.  I love how Flash made the box art for the Fun Tunnel.  Ol' Flash didn't make it on to too many packages.

Mark, I truly appreciate you sharing these photos with me.  I hope you continue to visit the site and share with us.  If any other collectors would like to have their collections shown, please contact me.

I'm off to find at least one of these items for myself...
