Action Figure Bo and Luke Present: New Dukes Stuff 2/20/2014 and Franks & Beans

Did you think the new action figures from Figures Toy Co. were going back in the package right away and stored with everything else?  These guys deserve to shine.  Today they decided to help me show off some of my latest acquisitions.

I don't know what Getglue is.  I tried to look it up once a while ago but didn't get all that into it.  It appears to be some sort of social network revolving around watching TV.  I am not the biggest social network guy.  I only use twitter to promote this here blog, and as another method of talking to Jeff.  But I guess this Getglue gives rewards for watching TV.  Rewards such as stickers.  This is a Dukes of Hazzard Getglue reward sticker.  I bought it on ebay.  Bo and Luke approve.

It also has CMT's logo on it.  I don't know how much Dukes someone had to watch to earn this sticker, or how they proved they watch said amount of Dukes, but they felt the need to sell the sticker afterward and I'm fine with that.  It is a cool tiny little addition to the collection.

I have several of these 35mm theater trailers for the Dukes movie.  I think this is my fourth one.  If they show up online for cheap, I'll usually buy them.  This is the yellow band that signifies the movie wasn't yet rated.  I also have a couple of green band ones.

I have so many, in fact, that I un-taped this one and looked at the individual cells.  Bo likes this cell with the logo.  He thinks the show logo is much better, but is glad that the movie established its own logo to keep them separate.

Speaking of the movie, I recently grabbed another copy of it on VHS.  Why, you may ask?  Because it was a dollar.  This is also a former rental and the box isn't in as nice shape as the other one I bought, but I'm happy to have it.  Luke seems to like it too.  I'm glad the Figures Toy Co. figure of Cooter isn't released yet, because he would be pretty upset to see Luke carrying it around.

Bo wonders how we might take advantage of the Lifetime Quality Guarantee from Hollywood Video if we needed to.  Hollywood ain't around no more.  Good question, action figure Bo.

This is an exciting piece.  It is a rerelease of the General Lee and Rosco's Patrol Car model sets in a two pack.  The Dukes Boys are thrilled to show it off.

The Model Kit Value Pack lets the buyer build both of the main cars from the Dukes of Hazzard.  Or collect them and never open them.

The box features the Bald General Lee, but we all know the flag is included inside.

It's a shame the Easy Assembly! is covering up Rosco. It's a great picture of him and Flash.  Action figure Rosco won't be happy about this.

The side of the box features the logo of AMT, MPC, and Polar Lights, just in case you get confused as to who makes the models.

Hey look!  The back of the box shows the complete front of the boxes of the models included.  Action figure Rosco loves it.  It seems they also released a two pack that contains a Corvette and a Camaro.  I think it would be funny to hear the reaction of someone buying that two pack and seeing the Duke cars.  It might cause them to seek out the cars.  Maybe even search Google and find their way to this very post.  Hello Corvette and Camaro fans!

In non-Dukes related news, hot off the presses we have the eighth issue of the ever popular Washington D.C. area free comic book themed newspaper style anthology, Magic Bullet.

Of course, I bring this issue to the reader's attention because Jeff is involved with the publication and, once again, has a story in it.  This one is called "I Hate The Moon."  Earth gets a new hat and Venus slaps the Moon.  It is a fun story.

And there is a picture of ME IN IT!!!  Jeff also included an ad for Franks and Beans in the issue.  Hey look!  I have a mustache in that picture!  This is a great ad and a great episode.  You really should check it out.  Ok, I'll embed it to this post, but promise me you will check out the site after you watch it, deal?

Now go check out FranksandBeansOnline.com!!!

I'm pretty sure the action figures will be involved in most posts for the foreseeable future.

The Terminator Wins Best Costume - Halloween 2013

I went out Hallooweening on the 31st and came home with first prize!  I love Halloween.

Happy Halloween from Franks and Beans!

Jeff went as a gorilla in a human costume.

There were some good costumes out there, but I didn't see too much competition.

I'd say it was a very succesful Halloween season.  I got to go to a cool haunted house, Fright Farm.

We went the the third highest rated haunted amusement park in the country, Kennywood's Phantom Fright Nights.

And I also dressed up like my favorite chili sauce, sriracha!

Just for the heck of it, here is my Terminator costume again.  Hasta la vista, baby.

I Won a Major Award!

In not at all Dukes related news, I won a video contest.  Aside from being a Dukes of Hazzard fanatic, I am also in the real estate profession.  I am a Realtor and Real Estate Appraiser at Larry A. Franks Real Estate Agency.  The Pennsylvania Association of Realtors held a video contest asking for entrants to create a video explaining what the Realtor Code of Ethics meant to them in 100 seconds or less.  I decided to stray away from the standard "talk to the camera" format and get a little creative.  I recruited Jeff and my mom to help. This is what we came up with:

I thought the superhero theme would make it stand out.  I am really happy with the result.  It wasn't obvious, but I wonder if anyone noticed the Realtor pin I was wearing.  The prize was a choice between an iPad and a Samsung Galazy Note 10.1.  Of course I went with the Galaxy.  Who likes apple stuff?  Not this guy, Android all the way!

I'm very excited to use this bad boy to catalog my collection and post blogs.  And of course Duke it up with 01 wallpapers and dixie horn notifications.

Of course, if you'd like to see more video featuring myself and ol' Jeffrey, you can check out Franks and Beans (on FranksandBeansOnline.com which we own, and always will).  Most of them don't include me flying and directly trying to win a prize, but some do.  Some also feature my mom.  And they are slightly funnier, slightly.

DukesCollector Business Cards 2.0

Summer is coming up quickly and that means one thing: Dukes of Hazzard events season!!  We are just over a week away from the big one, Dukes of Hazzard Fan Fair on June 8 in Nashville, TN.  To say I'm excited for this one would be putting it lightly.  All the cast members, Cooter's museum, the cars, the swap meet, the Twitter Lee, so much great Dukes fun.  Then two weeks later is the Dukes Family Festival which should be a blast.  It's close to home and will be a lot of fun.

When I started DukesCollector.com, one of the first things I did was create business cards to be passed out out Hazzard Homecoming 2011.  They were a hit.  By last summer I needed to order an additional thousand.  Last year I passed them out at SDCC and HH 2012.  So, now I've blown through two thousand business cards.  I was going to just order more, but I thought why not add a little to them.

I kept them mostly the same, but changed a few things.  When I first printed them, I just included the web address and only planned on owning a website.  I never liked blogs, and resisted owning one, but there simply is no better way of sharing my ever growing collection with like minded Dukes enthusiasts.  Some people get the card and only check out the main site, which I don't update enough.  Some people miss out on the true heart of DukesCollector which is this ol' blog.  So I decided to add the address for the blog onto the card.  I think it fits nicely.

I was about to send it to the printer, but thought, I might as well add something to the other side.

Ewww, it's like everyone's favorite game to play on that weird TV looking arcade thing on the bar: photohunt!  Can you spot the difference?

Originally I chose some of my rarest pieces to include on the card.  Gold General, bath set, music collection, the Transformer, and the Daisy stand up.  Since I was adding the blog info to the other side, I figured why not add a rare item I picked up since I started the blog.  The swim trunks I got from Rush were an obvious choice.  I never really liked the George Barris crest on the Gold General Lee box (he had nothing to do with the General Lee!)  I'm not sure why I kept it so prominent on the card, so I covered it with the trunks.  I think it fits quite nicely.

Of course, I never would have considered getting business cards if Jeff and I didn't already have them for Franks and Beans.  These bad boys have spread the good word about F&B for years now.  Perhaps we should update this picture...never!  It's the best picture ever!  My long hair was awesome.

If you find yourself a Dukes event, in the greater southwestern Pennsylvania area, San Diego Comic Con (only Jeff this year, not me unfortunately) or anywhere else I might be, I would be glad to hand you a card.  Giving them out is one of my favorite things to do.  If you aren't going to be in any of those places, email me your address and I'll send you some.  I want everyone to have one, EVERYONE!

My Hollywood Hogan takes Best Overall Costume

In an update to my last post about my Halloween costumes, I went out again on Saturday night and won best overall costume in my Hollywood Hulk Hogan.

Hey look it's Frankenberry.  Franks and Beans costar Jeff rocked out with the champ.

He walked around handing out Frankenberry cereal to everyone.

Hulk and Hollywood.

It really was a big year for wrestlers.

Winner and still champion: Hollywood Hulk Hogan!
