San Diego Comic Con 2013 - I'm not there

Well the big one starts today. And I am in Pennsylvania. Too many things going on, and I just couldn't make it.

Fortunately, for me and for the readers, our resident comic aficionado, Jeff, is there and will be covering it all on his twitter and blog. Be sure to check out http://teddyandtheyeti.blogspot.com and follow him @jeffmcclelland. He'll be signing at the Tick booth and also having a blast everywhere else. I'm with you in spirit, buddy. Comic-Con pictures - SDCC part 4

Let's take this thing home.  Time to finish out the pics from Comic-Con. 

This guy just let people duct tape anything on him.  Zoom in close and find the DukesCollector business card.  It seemed to be the only thing that caught the flash. 

I really thought this guy was a tree.  Then he moved.

This was made of Legos.  Wow. 

I guess Jeff actually made some sales.  Me and Sara really brought home the bacon though. 

Ah, the taco truck.  I sure loved it. 

Look how many people.  And this was Sunday, the slow day.  Friday and Saturday were the big days.

On Sunday, I finally made it to mythical Hall H.  This is where they held the biggest panels and people stood in line over night.  I went to the Sons of Anarchy panel and it was really cool.  Panels like Firefly, Walking Dead, and Game of Thrones led people to camp out the night before so they could get in.  Comic-Coners do crazy things.

That's all the pics I got.  It was a great time.  Be sure to check out Jeff's Teddy and the Yeti blog for his pics.  I was on the Ocean City, MD Boardwalk last night and I caught myself in Con mode trying to heckle people as they walked by.  It works to pull people to your table in the small press section.  Not a good idea in public.  As we were walking to the car from the boardwalk, there was a band playing at one of the bars.  They started to play Good Ol' Boys.  Love unexpected Dukes of Hazzard.

Comic-Con pictures - SDCC part 3

Here we go again.  More pictures from the Con.  Let's dive in. 

Jeff just started working the Tick booth.  No one seemed to mind. 

 

This guy had one of the strangest costumes there.  He also played up the "really weird dude" thing a lot. 

Another Marty McFly.  This guy really nailed the Part 2 costume.

So outside the convention hall, in front of the Hilton, they had Batmobiles.  Lots of Batmobiles.  All of them as a matter of fact.  From the Nolan movies, they had the Tumbler, and the Bane version.  They had all the other movie ones, and also a '66 Batmobile.  It was quite awesome.  I took a bunch of pictures. 

Jeff really wanted to create a Venture Brothers costume.  He wanted to do something unique that no one has ever done.  He chose Jet Boy and Jet Girl.  They were Henchmen 21 and 24 in their alternate henching homemade outfits.  The characters were in these outfits for a total of about five minutes in one episode.  Here is a still from the show.

We nailed it. 

I was leery about the costumes.  I didn't think anyone would know who we were.  But before we even had the costumes all the way on, someone ran up to and started reciting lines from the episode.  It was a huge success.  We ended up meeting the Venture Brothers creators a few times and they loved the costumes.  They said they never saw anyone else in these costumes.  Jeff was ecstatic.

There was a lot of Venture Brothers craziness going on.  This is our booth neighbor Angel wearing one of our masks. 

While in costume, we also met Matt Atchity, editor-in-chief of Rotten Tomatoes.  He ended up interviewing us for Comic-Con Radio on Sirius XM.  We got to spread the love for Teddy and the Yeti, Franks and Beans, and DukesCollector to the satellite radio world.  Thanks Matt. 

Today, I'll end with my awesome Saturday lunch.  First time I ever had fish tacos.  My greatest discovery of the Con was the taco truck behind the rear parking lot.  They even had Coke in glass bottles.  Way better than the cardboard pizza you could buy inside the convention center.  Looks like I have enough pictures for one more post.  I'll get them online soon.
