Pictured above is the new home of Cooter's In The Country. By now, I'm sure you've heard about the issues Ben and Alma have had with the local government concerning the parking at the current location in Sperryville, well soon that will all be over because Cooter's Place is moving to Luray, VA! Just about 20 miles west, still on Lee Highway, Cooter's is moving to the former Outlander's Motorcycles location in neighboring Page County. Luray should be familiar to folks who have traveled to the area for Hazzard Homecomings and other events because it has the closest motels such as the Days Inn Luray, where me and Jeff stayed a few times. Luray is also the home of the world famous Luray Caverns which are right up the road. The new building looks like a perfect location for Cooter's. There will be plenty of parking, a restaurant area, no restrictions on music, and lots of space. Ben and Alma mentioned "there is a very large space for our “Dukes Museum”' which couldn't make me happier. I can't wait to help set up another Dukes of Hazzard museum!
The building's exterior reminds me of a certain local establishment in Hazzard County.
With some gray paint, and a blue sign, Cooter's In The Country could be a spitting image of the Boar's Nest! The move to the new location begins in November. No opening date has been set yet. But before the move, there are a few things happening in Sperryville.
The last weekends in October will be the final Weekends of Cooter's in Sperryville. October 22 will be a special day as Ben thanks the community for all the support they've given him. There will be a special event at the Sperryville Volunteer Fire Department that will include a car show and a concert with Cooter's Garage Band. Ben will make his triumphant return to the stage after these long months of rehab after his hip injury. He is very excited to get back in front of a crowd. Cooter's Place will open at 7am and be open stay open later after the event. The car show will run from 9am to noon and the concert will take place from 2 to 3:30 at the fire hall. There will be an autograph session after the concert. All proceeds from the concert will go to the Fire Department which will help them continue to protect the families from the area. It will be a great event for a great cause. To get tickets go to the eventbrite page. This is going to be a lot of fun! The next weekend, Oct. 29 and 30, will be the final days of the current location and then the move to Luray begins. I can't wait for the concet and I hope you join Ben and Alma, and everyone else as we get ready for a new chapter in the Dukes of Hazzard world. It's going to be great!
